2018 – 2019 PRESENTATION DETAILS
In this fun-filled presentation we’ll go behind the scenes of my middle grade novel, THE HOUSE THAT LOU BUILT, and learn how the book started as a messy draft on my desk but turned into a finished product in libraries and bookstores across the country. Students will see my (very tall) revision stack, learn that it takes more than just the author to create a book, and take away plenty of tips for writing and revision.
Duration: 35 – 45 minutes
Grades 3- 5 or 6-8
“Let’s Write!” Workshop
In this lively, interactive session, I guide small groups with fun and easy imagination exercises and prompts to improve their writing skills.
Duration: 45 – 60 minutes
Grades 4-5 or 6-8
“Digging Deep” Workshop
In this lively, interactive session, I guide small groups in “digging deep” with their writing—how to take their own emotions, experiences, hopes, challenge and dreams and bring those details to the page to create rich and authentic stories.
Duration 45 – 60 minutes
Grade 4-5 or 6-8
My Skype visit schedule is currently full; please check back for future openings or to get on the waitlist for Spring 2019.

If the author visit is not a part of a book fair or festival, I ask that books be pre-sold to attendees via an order form. I can work with you via the Random House Kids’ author visit program or your local bookstore, and I’m happy to assist with this if you do not already have a system in place. (For California visits, I’m connected with a number of different bookstores who will work with you directly if you do not already have a book sale system in place for author visits. Please distribute order form 2 weeks prior to the visit. Contact Mae directly to work out details.)
